Granting Wishes with MeUndies
When’s the last time that you made a wish come true when buying underwear? If you bought anything from MeUndies last year on Cyber Monday, 10% of your purchase price went toward granting the wishes of Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles.
And with the help of our MeUndies family, we were able to grant the wishes of 5 unstoppable kids. From a no-holds-barred shopping spree to a Himalayan getaway, the wishes we granted brought hope, strength and joy to some amazing kids.
Here’s a brief look at the wishes you helped make possible.
Beau made a full recovery from cancer only a few years ago and chose travelling to Nepal as his wish. Self-reflective and endlessly optimistic, Beau wanted an adventure that would challenge him physically as well as inspire him both artistically and spiritually. You really can’t get more spiritual than Nepal.
An enthusiastic amateur photographer, Beau took his family on the trip of a lifetime, trekking through Nepal and the beauty of the Himalayas. Beau’s photographs captured only a portion of how his trip affected him. Beau was also made painfully aware of the pollution threatening Nepal and has since begun studying environmental science in college.
Beau was so moved by his experience that when he returned to the United States, he decided to help fundraise for MAW so other kids could have their wishes granted, too. “When kids have medical conditions, many for which we’ve yet to find a cure, a cure for the weathered spirit may be just as important,” he reflects about his trip. Beau believes a Make-A-Wish trip can change anything for a child with a life-threatening illness and we have to say, we agree.
Jacob’s wish took him to New York City and a Broadway show. But it wasn’t just a trip to the Big Apple. Jacob’s trip was also a way of reconnecting with his late mother by seeing her favorite live-action musical, The Lion King.
“It was the turning point,” said Jacob’s father. “Now it’s time to start being happy.”
Anachristina wished for a winter-themed Quinceñera, so we had to help grant that wish. She wore a royal blue gown and the young women in her court all wore icy-blue dresses to match. She and her father also shared a special dance to the Macarena and Can’t Touch This.
A wish to travel to Germany turned into a journey into Ryan’s family history. Going all the way to Nuremberg, Ryan met distant relatives, visited museums, and celebrated his 17th birthday with a little German chocolate cake.
A wish for a shopping spree turned into so much more for Brieanna, who ended her day feeling empowered and ready for anything.
