Fake it till you make it because there will always be uncertainty

Perhaps I’m fairly skeptical by nature. How do you know that’s right choice? How do you know that your way is the best way?

These are things that are hard for me to confirm, 100%. Which is actually quite frustrating at times — because there are situations when you either have to be a) certain, or b) fake it till you make it.

Fate (or coincidence depending on your view) is a funny thing though. Two things happened to me in the past 12 hours that has already helped me.

You know Mike Rowe? The host of the TV show Dirty Jobs? I heard him on a podcast last night. Holy crap, what an interesting dude.

Did you know he was a host on the TV shopping channel, QVC? Not prime time host, but from 3am-6am. Here’s the other thing. He didn’t know what the hell he was doing. People just brought him products and then he had to talk about them no matter how dull or weird for like 8+ minutes! Pencils are easy to find because they are yellow. Canary yellow. Mixed by a guy in China so that’s it’s just the right type of yellow….yadda yadda yadda.

Fake it till you make it.

And then I went to meeting this morning. It’s a group of Product Managers, mostly within the Tech space.

The topic? Validating ideas and dealing with uncertainty. Turns out, there is always uncertainty. Your gut ends up being the compass more than any organization with admit.

Uncertainty is like analysis. It’s generally always going to be there, and that’s ok, as long as it doesn’t paralyze you from making decisions.
