My Immigrant Mother’s Difficult Job Search
Megan Reynolds

This hits close to the heart. My parent lost there job of 30+ years when I was 23 and working several jobs to scrape by. They were very skilled in one thing, weren’t great with computers, overweight and older. Finally, they weren’t very flexible or energetic to grow in the ways they needed to grow and they never ended up finding a new job, basically they are retired because they stopped looking for work.

It is such a bad mix of sorrow, frustration, guilt, and hopelessness. I find myself feeling angry at them only to switch over to being sooooo upset for them.
