Brussels enter fourth day lockdown

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Belgian authorities raised the terror threat for Brussels to its highest level leading to a lockdown of the city
The streets of Belgium remain sealed of and school and business remain closed. This is the fourth consecutive day that Brussels remains as such due to terrorist threats.
This is a result of the recent terrorist attacks on November 13 in Paris which left 130 people dead.
Belgium is central to the investigation into terrorist whereabouts as several of those involved are believed to reside in the area.
Although 16 people have been arrested in relation to the attacks, Twenty-six-year-old Salah Abdeslam has not yet been found. Belgian Federal Prosecutor Eric Van der Sypt explained
“He has been on the run since he left Paris hours after his brother blew himself up at a cafe there. He is being hunted by French and Belgian police as he is thought to be one of the suspected nine assailants who carried out last week’s gun and bomb attacks in Paris. Seven of the militants died on the night.”

Residents of Brussels were asked not to disclose details of raids or whereabouts of police. The people of belgium responded by tweeted images of cats along with the hashtag #brusselslockdown.
The Belgian police thanked the people of Belgium for their cooperation and their cats by tweeting them with this image.
Prime Minister Charles Michel said Brussels would remain on the highest level of alert for at least another week.
