How to Know that Google Account Has Been Hacked

No one can guarantee a complete security of your online accounts these days. Just recently there was a news that over a million Google accounts were hacked by Gooligan malware attack which targeted Android devices only. The major part of those Android devices infected by this malware was running on Jelly Bean, KitKat, and Lollipop. The biggest worry is that the infected devices are increased by about 13,000 new devices every day.

Just recently we came to know that WhatsApp is soon rolling out two-step verification process to protect your favorite chat messenger app from hackers. Till now when we are writing this piece we have no news about whether Google is adding more security to its servers or not but what we have mentioned above is not less than frightening.

In addition what is more worrisome is that popular Google apps like Google Play, Google Photos, Google Docs, G Suite, Google Drive and not the least, Gmail were compromised as well. So how would we know whether our Google account has been compromised or not when there was Gooligan malware attack was happening everywhere?

There is a website called checkpoint.com which will let you know about whether your Google account has been infected or not. Just go to gooligan.checkpoint.com and enter your Gmail address in the given space, click on reCAPTCHA and then click on CHECK and you will get the detail.

At the very end of this blog post from Checkpoint, you will notice a detailed list of apps which were infected by Gooligan. Check whether any of your apps is one of them or not by going to Settings on your mobile and then Apps. If you find that your Google account has been hacked then change your password immediately and keep on changing it often.
