  1. If you feel your weekend is too short, try social media detox (+no mobile phone if you can). I saved at least 1 hour a day that I can use for more useful stuffs or sleep longer.
  2. I got more focus on what I was doing, simply because less distraction (e.g. notifs on the social media, new ig story, etc.).
  3. Got ‘addicted’ with social media? Wanna stop but can’t? Detox for few days may work!

Wanna try?

Here are some tips that work for me:

  1. Turn off all notifications in your social media. (I still turn it off until now, so if you want to reach me, please call/whatsapp🙂)
  2. Move your social media apps to the least seen part in your screen. This is really important. Why? Since I’m so used to click instagram, facebook, or path, unconsciously when I got nothing to do (e.g. waiting or in the taxi), I will hold my phone & my finger will click the exact folder where all those apps are. So scary, isn’t it? It somehow already in the auto-pilot mode to hold the phone & open social media. So my strategy is to move the folder to the 2nd screen. Below left is my main screen where my social media apps used to be. Right is the 2nd screen which I don’t often see.

And it works! Haha!

3. If you got nothing to do e.g when you are in the car stuck in the traffic jam, queueing, or before you go to bed, you can fill your time with many other things. What I did is I called my mom, or read a book (some pages), or meditate (focusing on breathe in & breathe out). I’m sure you’ll have other more interesting things that you can do! 😉

4. Recommended by most people, but I didn’t do it. Uninstall your social media apps. Why didn’t I do it? I’m not so sure if I remember my password correctly 😬. So, better I don’t uninstall, and just leave it untouched. It’s also more challenging if you don’t uninstall. The temptation is still there, right!

I highly suggest to do this social media detox! It does help to reduce the addiction on social media which is unhealthy.
