The Burden of You.

From your mouth to my mouth — the hurt you speak, I repeat
Repeat, repeat, repeat over in my mind until your hurtful words become my truth.
From your teeth to my eyes — the anger you spit blinds me
I don’t see you for what you are;
I no longer see me for who I am.
From your tongue to my skin — the hiss of hatred slices my body
The sharp edge, the pressure against the pale canvas
Your hatred transforming into a crimson path
The blame, the shame, the guilt — all that you should bear,
All that you have caused is placed upon my shoulders
You take away the value, the worth, the love — but the weight remains.
Your truth embedded in my mind,
Your twisted vision of who I should be,
The scars on my skin,
Bear the burden of you.
