Friendly Fire
Jack Preston King

I liked this story, and I like a lot of your thoughts, which I have been following for a while. There is one thing that disturbs me about this particular story though. I don’t understand the actual causal connection between the woman, his ex-wife, and the ticking time bombs. How are these things her deliberate acts of war on him? How is the thing in the letter her fault? This does not make sense to me. Is it supposed to? Or is it that we know she couldn’t have really done those things and he is just so obsessed with blaming her that everything that happens in his life that is emotionally hard (like maybe recognizing a false dichotomy) is her fault? I’m not assuming anything, I’m just really interested in your thinking.
