Remembering Katrina Exhibit

While looking through the “Remembering Katrina” exhibit, I doodled and sketched anything that came to mind. Surprisingly, rather than feeling sentiments of sadness, I rather experienced a sense of awe. This was the kind of awe that comes when you are watching someone accomplish some great physical feat or you see something unimaginable. I was truly inspired by all of the bravery, resilience, and sense of community that the pictures portrayed. I left the exhibit thinking only of the sense of community that blossomed when everything else seemed to fall apart. Through the drastic situations, it seemed like the key to survival was knowing that no one was alone. I thought: ‘THESE are the feet we have, and we all walk together. Now we must COME together and carry on’. I think that might be part of the answer to any problem.
