I used to spend a lot of time on photography prior to my wife’s death three years ago, but lost all interest afterwards. I’m advised that this is not unusual for people in mourning and the interest may return in future.

I’m shifting over to video, so that I can use some of my existing gear. The goal is to be able to volunteer my services to small organisations (e.g., guide dogs, penguin patrols, local schools) who can use the videos for fundraising or training. However, I have to learn what I’m doing before volunteering…

Therefore, I’ll practice by making short videos of our daughter, the cats and the local area. One of the benefits of the switch is that our daughter likes seeing herself on video and she wants to participate in making the videos of the cats.
