Voters react if they think that the government is doing a bad job. You’ll recall that the Democrats controlled Congress (with a supermajority in the Senate) and the presidency in 2008. After Obamacare was pushed through, the Democrats lost the House in 2010 and the Senate in 2014. Now the presidency is gone as well.

The incoming administration isn’t stupid. They know how the voters responded to over-reach by the previous administration and will presumably learn from it. So I think the current hysteria will subside soon and hopefully voters will enjoy the benefits of reduced regulations and less government emphasis on social engineering.
