Yes, you’re right. Political parties have different priorities. I have no doubt that if the Democrats had won the last presidential election, the health care policies which are being considered would be significantly different.

That said, that’s why we have elections. The party that wins should put its policies into practice (provided that they have the requisite numbers in Congress). As a democracy, the people choose who they want to represent them.
