I don’t think the word “proven” is accurate. The linked articles show very limited studies (e.g., a few thousand people in Uganda), but there’s no real evidence that the programs work for large numbers of people. If anything, practical experience contradicts this theory (e.g., it’s counter-intuitive to parents that giving money for nothing to teenagers changes their behaviour for the better).
