Spotlight Series: An Introduction

Mental Health is one of the defining issues of our time. Affecting more people in our community than most people realise, and in countless different ways, few issues like mental health present such a complex and challenging reality for wider society to face.

One of the fundamental issues at the root of mental health problems facing society today is the stigma surrounding the topic. At Mentally Healthy Bond, one of our key focuses is to raise awareness of mental health issues that affect people from all walks of life to help decrease this stigma.

To further this goal, we will be publishing a Spotlight series of articles, focusing on the variety of ways mental health issues can manifest across society. From domestic violence, to the stress faced by students, struggling with one’s sexuality and beyond, this series of articles will shine a spotlight on various mental health challenges in our community.

For now, here are some handy tips that you can use, or recommend to a friend or family member to make sure they are mentally healthy:

2. Eat well! Make sure you are eating nutritious, healthy foods that are great for you and your mental health;

3. Keep in touch with your friends and family. This always serves as a great reminder of all the people who have your back;

4. Take a break. Sometimes life can get pretty overwhelming, and taking a break from whatever you are working on can be a great way to clear your head and feel better;

5. Keep active. Be it a walk, run, your favourite sport or hitting the gym, keeping active is a great way to clear your mind and refresh yourself;

6. Ask for help. If you are struggling with something, be it an assignment, or something personal, asking someone you trust for help with the issue can help you see it in a new and refreshed way that you might have been missing previously; and
