What to do when desirability doesn’t cut it (as a starting point)

This article is illustrated with drawings of 11 people. All of them appear to be both white and young. Eight of them appear male. Your intended message of balancing human centered design with other priorities seems sensible enough but it was, for me, completely dwarfed by your (I hope) unintended message that human centered design is something to be done by young white hipster men. It’s all very well to get out of the building, but who you let into the building still matters — and affects who from outside the building is willing to talk to you, and what they feel safe enough to tell you.
