The old or the New Economy; it’s still all about People

by WILLIAM SHORTALL

Society has progressed from a subsistence, industrial to a digital economy the drive for the later being the Internet. The tipping point being mass availability at a cheap price, if you think it expensive it was years ago for the average families using dial up modems, sharing the connection with the telephone line. Times have moved on and mass communication is available through your smart phone, tablet or what ever device you now use, but people are still people.

The life blood of any economy is sales, if a company does not sell enough then eventual, they will go bust. If you want something in life then you yourself must become the sales person, if your an entrepreneur then you have to pitch to your investors, it’s still selling; yes you have to or learn, the skill to read people but it’s still selling.

One the first books I read from Grant Cardone ( who I follow on here too) was ‘Sell or be sold’ and it’s still all about people. The first chapter – A way of life: we are all on a commission, even if you are a paid employee and selling is critical to all businesses, start ups or a entrepreneur and ends with a quiz to see if you have comprehend the chapter.

Grant talks about using your personal power base, about trust; your prospect or customer has in you and your product, your confidence; and what the customer or prospect has for yourself , conviction and having a positive attitude. Grant also talks about closing, filling your pipeline; having so many leads or prospects that if a few drop away , it makes no difference.

22 chapters in total with standout quotes and chapters such as The Price Myth, The Magic of Agreement, Massive Action; including the 10x Rule leading to Grant other best seller; The 10x Rule. Grant goes over the perfect sales process in five steps, he also talks about social media presence, ends that chapter with Ten Commandments of sales and he gives tips on conquering the biggest challenges in selling.

I have seen Grant’s sales people on periscope and Meerkat (live video streaming app’s from a mobile phone) using this material on sales calls. There are lots of sales books by a wide variety of people, for me; Grant book ‘ Sell or be Sold’ stands out as a must have, book for sales people, entrepreneurs and anybody who wants to persuade others.

You can buy the book here for the UK only. Sell or be Sold is an outstanding book on sales, business, and life, I will return to it, again, going through particular chapters at my website: Top 100 Business Books, this book made it into my top ten in at book four.
