DIY — How To Attach Metal Table Legs To A Granite Tabletop?

Granite has been used as one of the most versatile decorative materials for decades. And the trend of using granite for table tops is not too strange to many people. In comparison to wooden tops, granite has more benefits like it doesn’t stain, is waterproof and has a distinct gloss that can bring a luxurious and bright look to any living space.

How to attach metal table legs/bases to granite tops?

To connect a granite tabletop with our metal table legs/bases, some of our customers are using Silicon glue to give support to their tabletop. Some glue manufacturers have designed silicones specifically used for granite adhesives. We recommend it would be a nice choice to use SikaBond Construction Adhesive or 2-part structural epoxy. Here are the detailed steps to adhere a granite tabletop to metal legs or bases.

Step 1

Spread an old blanket or rug out on a flat surface, then place the granite top on the blanket. Make sure the piece of fabric is large enough for the granite top to fit on and to avoid scratches.

Step 2

It is important to clean the granite surface before applying the glue. Make sure to remove any dust or debris left on the underside of the granite. You can use water or a mixture of vinegar and water, grab a piece of cloth and get to wiping. After that, just wait for the surface to dry.

Step 3

Determine the exact position on the underside of the top where the table legs will be attached. Mark the position where the mounting plates will be glued using either a pencil or a marker.
