Import Custom 3D Assets Into Your Metaverse (Decentraland)

Did you know Decentraland has to be one of the trendiest metaverse platforms where celebrities including Deadmau5, Paris Hilton, 3LAU and more host their concerts and events there? Many buy virtual plots of land in Decentraland as NFTs via the MANA cryptocurrency. But you can also create your scene without owning a plot of land in Decentraland.
Do you find it’s hard to build from scratch by using the assets from the builder? No worries, you can upload your own 3D models to Decentraland. But how? Let’s take a quick tour.

Step-by-step guide:
First, log on to Decentraland Builder and log in with your Decentraland account, or simply create one if you haven’t got an account yet.
Once you’re logged in, you’ll see this as your builder dashboard.
Creating a Scene
Click on the + icon or “click here”. A window will be pop-up to name your scene and add some description. Click on next when you’re ready.
Here you can set the size of your scene. Let’s start with the default 2x2, then click on create. Once everything is loaded, you’ll see the builder interface.
Import Custom Assets
Click on the + icon, a Create Asset Pack window will pop up.
Then simply drag and drop your assets into the greyed area, and click on import asset.
Do make sure your assets:
- is in GLB, GLTF or ZIP format
- less than 5MB
Name your asset, assign it to a category and add tags (optional), click on Continue and Create Assets when you’re ready.
Apply Imported Assets
Now you can see your custom asset is imported. Just drag and drop to place it in your scene.
