Have a good time with the rest of your life!
I hate ‘herd’ mentality. And I think every human being possess this quality…i.e., to follow, to copy others. Few are revolutionary in their thoughts, beliefs and actions. But, either they die too soon or they live long enough to see themselves turn villains.
I abhor those people who do things just for the sake for doing. Just because the guy-next-door is doing and the guy-next-to-next-door did and is happy and successful. For example, buying a car. A car makes life easy, no doubt. But, I have seen and met people who don’t feel bad journeying in public transport systems such as Rickshaw, Bus, Metro, Train, etc. Fact is they even enjoy such adventurist acts. To hear some guy whispering to his love in side-seat, to look stealthily at a mother nursing her child, to engaging in verbal duel with a senior citizen, to making important business contacts.
Then industrialization happened. With that, came capitalist businessmen. Accompanied with ‘their’ outlook of a lavish lifestyle. The rest of us, simple-minded individuals admired their perspective, and fell into their trap. Now, a common philistine human makes his life’s motto to earn money, make a home, buy a car and all that bullshit. These days, people want to be content with their 5 inch smartphone, 15 inch laptop, 40 inch smart TV, eating at fine restaurants, spending money in thousands each time they get out. What kind of superficial life is that?
I am seeking “truth”, out of all the things that is up for grabs in our world. The truth about human existence. The truth about nature. The truth about Gods, if any. The truth about life! Is there no one who can guide me? I have too many questions, which any religious book don’t answer.
The last night, I was arguing with my roommate (who unlike me, is a materialistic person). He said Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan are anyday better actors than Aamir Khan. His reason, he cited was, films of Aamir Khan work, immaterial of Aamir Khan himself. In other words, Shahrukh and Salman can make a film succeed on their own shoulders, they don’t need a script or direction. The problem I’ve with this argument is why bother calling Shahrukh and Salman actors? They’re entertainers. Cheap performers.
Aamir acts. Salman don’t. People go to watch Aamir’s movie because the film boasts of substance not Aamir. But, Salman & Shahrukh has fan following. People just want to imitate their latest dance moves or cliche dialogues and thus, they are ready to pay a hefty amount to catch a face of their idol. Fuck this mentality, man! How can you pay someone who doesn’t even enlighten you. You like their movie because you like them and you like them because they look good. That’s like paying money to their parents’ work, i.e., for producing a good-looking kid.
Fuck this world man, it’s a shitty place, full of shitty people.
