I struggled with depression and suicidal ideation a lot as a teen. Often times I was told to look on the bright side, or to believe things would 'get better.' A lot of mental health related stuff is just toxic positivity, meant to sell a lie that one day you wake up and just live a happy life without major problems, you get a 'happy ending.' I found a more helpful mindset is that things often suck and it's fine, that there is value in life despite that.
