The Army Achievement Medal — Recognizing Exceptional Service

Michael Emmons is an entrepreneur in Kansas City, Missouri, who has guided several businesses to success. Prior to his career in the private sector, Michael Emmons served in the U.S. Army Reserve and earned the Army Achievement Medal for his performance on the annual COMET inspection.

The Army Achievement Medal is conferred to a member of the U.S. military serving in a non-combat field on or after August 1, 1981. The Army awards the medal to those who have stood out from among their comrades for meritorious service.

The Army Achievement Medal is an octagonal medal made of bronze. With a diameter of 1.5 inches, the medal has a single angle at the top and bears the words “Department of the Army” and the year 1775 at the bottom. The medal also has the words “FOR MILITARY ACHIEVEMENT” on three lines, below which there is a blank space for the recipient’s name. The reverse side of the medal features two slips of laurel, and the medal comes with a 1 3/8-inch-wide ribbon with eleven stripes.
