The 9 Advantages of Ulection.com

  1. We can’t share posts to the locations in which we live on Facebook, only to followers and friends. If you want to use your Facebook page to add everyone in your city then that will work, but I think most people just want to use Facebook to connect with their friends.
  2. Elected officials and candidates are hidden behind a sea of people on Facebook. I’m active in politics and didn’t think to follow my elected officials and candidates on Facebook until recently, so the average person is not thinking about doing this either. That’s why we need a social network created specifically for our community politics.
  3. When I visit a politician’s Facebook page it is hard for me to find where they stand on the issues I care about such as climate change, renewable energy, and healthcare. On Ulection politicians can tag their posts to topics so that when I go to their page and want to see where they stand on an issue I can easily select it.
  4. Social and political organizations are hidden behind millions of pages and groups on Facebook. On Ulection they are organized by location so people who want to get involved in their community can search for organizations to join.
  5. On Ulection you can view the demographics of those who rate your posts so you can see how your views are perceived by different age groups, sexes, and races.
  6. It’s socially unacceptable for myself or friends to discuss politics on Facebook except for the occasional national or international trending headline. People need a dedicated space to discuss state and local issues.
  7. Ulection has a feature called My Campus which allows us to share posts with those in our campus. On Facebook you’re only able to share with friends who happen to share your campus. I don’t want to be friends with everyone on my campus but I do want to discuss campus issues with everyone on my campus.
  8. Candidates are organized into their respective election so that you can view everyone who is running, not just the ones who have money to get their name out there. With Ulection all candidates have an equal platform.
  9. Our generation is voting at historically low numbers. We need to use technology to help our generation learn about our candidates so we can be educated and empowered to vote. I live in SF and couldn’t vote last November because there was not enough info on the Mayoral candidates. The incumbent Mayor was the only one capable of getting media attention and the other candidates didn’t have enough info on their respective websites and Facebook pages. If they had used Ulection to write about their issues and shared interviews and speeches then I could have learned who they were and voted.
