QUESTION TIME: Trans Pacific Partnership

I know that Milton Friedman advocated thatwe lift all tariffs and let goods flow freely, his theory was that in a sense the influx of cheap goods would spur growth and essentially be a tax cut, because tariffs are a tax pass on, to the consumer! Probably all true in a perfect world, when the U.S. was a manufacturing Juggernaut! Not so anymore! The truth is rebuilding a manufacturing base, might be impossible in the terms Milton Friedman advocated. Your approach is correct, except we make horrible trade deals, where the Government picks winners and losers! Ask any seafood producer here and he will tell you free trade sucks, for him !

Thanks Taylor
