There’s nothing quite like sitting back with your favorite wine, enjoying the sunset, a favorite book or just spending time friends. However, taking a trip to Idaho wine country is sure to increase your awareness of the booming industry that is taking the state by storm. Within the last 10 years or so, more than 40 Idaho wineries have made their appearance, and the results are nothing short of intoxicating.

While Idaho might be known for its potatoes, the 1,600 acres of new vineyards in the area are quickly making the state known for much more. Since the 2007 decision to allocate a federally recognized, 8,000 square mile area to grape growing, Idaho is proving it has much more to offer residents, guests and wine connoisseurs.

With three different regions, including the Southeast, Southwest and North wine regions, these locations offer numerous tours, whether you have only a few hours or you want to fill a few days with the beauty and sensations that only wine country can provide. Here, you’ll discover a wealth of information about the Idaho wine country offerings, and where you need to go to enjoy everything the area has to offer.

Sunnyslope Wine District

The Sunnyslope Wine District offers a variety of vineyards and wineries, with 13 different options available for touring. Take the time to experience the tasting room and events at the Annadelle Winery, or discover the beauty of Bitner Vineyards. You can also immerse yourself in lesser-known wine varieties available from the Fujishin Family Cellars to discover new tastes, and the Lost West Winery. You’ll also be able to visit Hells Canyon, Huston and numerous other wineries on your tour, ensuring a memorable escape for family and friends.

As a part of your Sunnyslope tour, you can stay at the Hat Ranch Winery, which is a bed and breakfast that allows you to extend your tour across several days while enjoying wine tasting and an art gallery. The entire family will enjoy feasting on the family style favorites at the Orchard House restaurant. However, Spot Pizza is a must-visit restaurant that includes pizza, a variety of homemade foods and fresh baked goods that will delight everyone. This locale even offers seasonal events to make your visit to Idaho wine country even more special.

Ste. Chapelle Winery

Ste. Chapelle Winery is another great location on your wine country tour, and is currently the leading winery available in Idaho for both sales and production. Visit the wine tasting room to experience the tastiest wines available. This winery also provides numerous events throughout the year to celebrate holidays, as well as Sunday concert series that are designed to entertain the entire family all summer long.

Living in Idaho

While you can always visit Idaho wine country for tours, you can also start your new life together in Idaho by getting married on the grounds of the Ste. Chapelle or Sunnyslope wineries. Immerse your entire wedding party in the beauty of wine country, and then head back to your Boise home after the honeymoon for a great start to the next chapter in your life.
