Very well written response. When privacy is limited there are those who will use that information for their own gain. Unfortunately that use will not necessarily be benign. I can think of a number of political movements that used formally private information to control or eliminate their populations. Think of Germany in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Communist and totalitarian governments are masters of that use. It’s naive to think that the technology won’t be used by all governments to control their citizens in various degrees. Privacy creates and maintains our freedoms.
