Since the glory days of the Chryslers and the General motors, what the U.S. has been able to give to the world was an exceptionally high standard of quality when it came to any industry. Back in the good old days, it was only manufacturing production and agriculture and there were very few players globally who could compete at that level.

Although the hay days of manufacturing are well behind us, this industry still has as an impact over many of the other industries. This is the field where ingenious design and building capabilities thrust small companies into the fore and made them legends over decades.

The relevance of manufacturing in today’s world

Although the world has moved beyond manufacturing and has migrated into service based economies, its relevance is still supreme. The only difference is that nowadays manufacturing employs fewer people than it used to and it only employs a very skilled and specialized labor force.

In such scenarios it is important that companies from markets like the U.S. and other industrialized nations keep up the good work in this field and ensure that the standard of manufacturing all around the world is challenged, no matter what the sub-industry is.

The emerging markets

Some of the emerging markets in Asia, especially China has been sourcing its labor and skills to other emerging markets in Africa and Asia, but the practices have been known to indulge severe undercutting, which results in a loss of quality.

This is where companies from the U.S. can provide a much better service to the world and for clients when they are not willing to compromise over quality.

To this end the Manufacturers Association of Florida gives out the prestigious yearly awards to felicitate the exceptional companies that have proven themselves in the current one year time period.

Manufacturers Association of Florida

The Manufacturers Association of Florida has many members within it who are part of the business community in the state of Florida. It was formed in the year 2006 to make a better Council or Chamber for Manufacturing business to come together.

The goal was to improve the climate for Manufacturing based industries in the state and to be able to enlarge the members to include companies which were both small and large. This would facilitate trade dialogues and exchanges of ideas.

Businesses of any type are welcome to join, as long as they meet the criteria for a manufacturing business and size.

In the past few years they have enormously contributed to the manufacturing business climate in the state and have been able to keep the standards up by instituting the Manufacturers and Distributors of the year award.

What is the Manufacturers and Distributors of the year award?

The manufacturers and Distributors of the year award are given to one company each in four categories for manufacturing, and two categories for distribution. There are also other finalists in each of these categories who get to have a consolation prize even if they don’t win.

The judges base their decisions on a lot of things about the functioning of a company — From Strategy about the market to the Focus on building client and market relationships, managing of the work force, customer satisfaction level, and the management of work processes in the company.

After taking into account all of these and even touring the facilities, the Judges then decide on a winner for each and every category.
