Lifestyle Change

Nine months ago, on August 7th, I looked in the mirror and was extremely unhappy with myself. I was overweight and getting more out of control quickly.

I decided it was time to make a change. The next morning, I went cold turkey from junk food, fried food, fast food, etc. I started eating healthy and preparing meals for lunch at work, etc. I started exercising just for 30 minutes, 3 days per week, using Couch to 5K. I saw quick results, but knew I needed to stay diligent if I really wanted it to be a long term change, and not just a fad for me that would burn out in a few weeks, as it always had before.

I set a personal goal of losing 35–40 lbs. By November, I was just about at that goal, and I felt like I was reaching a plateau without much further success. I joined a gym, and started meeting weekly with a personal trainer. He helped (and is continuing) to push me further every week and get further and closer to goals we have set. Goals that I didn’t think were even remotely possible.

The last thing I want from writing this is praise, accolades, compliments, etc. I just want people to know that you can do things that you might not think are possible. I didn’t think it was going to be possible to reach my goals. Since Thanksgiving when I started meeting with my trainer, I’ve completely changed my diet, I’m exercising and working out more than I ever knew I was capable of.

After 9 months, I still surprise myself everyday when I wake up and see a difference of 35+ pounds lost, and shedding body fat with the help of a professional.

Don’t hesitate to believe in yourself. Set goals and try to reach them. Feel free to reach out to me if you need support in reaching yours. @MikeDarnay
