Easter won’t be the same for many families this year. We are unable to go to church for Easter Mass or visit our extended families for front yard Easter Egg Hunts. Our lives are all a little out of whack right now but the good news is that this is temporary and next year we will be even more thankful to be spending Easter with our family. But for now in the interest of our safety and to help flatten the curve we must adjust our Easter plans. So here a few ideas to help you have an EGG-cellant Easter despite having to stay home.

Conference Call with the Easter Bunny… or just the family

Sadly, we won’t get to see the family who don’t share a roof with us but with today’s technology it’s the perfect time to utilize a video call. Use Google Hangouts or Zoom to set up a call so that you can spend some time with your loved ones. It really does help you feel more connected to your friends and family. And who knows… maybe the Easter bunny will hop by. He’s considered an essential you know?

Humpty Dumpties

Humpty Dumpties baked by our own Peter DelRose

Since I’ve got some free time on my hands I’ve decided to take on the challenge of venturing further into the world of baking. Peter DelRose sent the team a picture of these adorable Easter themed rolls he calls Humpty Dumpties. I decided what better time to tackle bread making than quarantine. Plenty of free time plus carbs soothe my soul. Maybe for you this is the perfect time to finally take a shot at making Grandma’s famous Easter Sweet Potato Casserole, bake your first bunny cake from scratch or whip up some Humpty Dumpties! If you do, share them on your Facebook or Instagram page and tag us. We would love to see them!

A Easter Egg Hunt for All

If there was ever a time to go all out for an Easter Egg Hunt it’s now. Hide more eggs than usual and include the whole family. Include a few “special” eggs that if found can be turned in for a special surprise like a book or movie. For older kids take it a step further and make an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt through the whole house with a large loot at the end. Adults can involve each other by hiding special notes or post quarantine date night ideas. No kids in the house at all? Why not replace hiding eggs with hiding nips of your favorite alcohol. When you’re done you’ll be ready to invent the next Quaran-tini recipe!

We hope that these ideas help keep your Easter festive. And who knows, maybe a new traditional will be born! Wishing you and your family a safe and happy Easter!
