Some of the extraneous tasks we do to distract ourselves are relatively harmless. I hate washing dishes by hand, so I jam and configure my dishwasher to fit every last item in the sink. I end up wasting more time rearranging than I would if I had just washed the damn bowl.
…lf. Know that I’ll move through it, like I have before. Remind myself that I can’t be the only one. And remember that some days are for blazing a new path and others are for sitting quietly on the shore. And we don’t always get to choose which day is which.
With how connected the world is now, we have no choice but to be exposed to the ideas of people we disagree with. If we choose to ignore what they say, the result is fragmentation, isolation, and — in some cases — righteous violence.
