I agree that you showed resolve in many ways around the growth of your businesses — but saying that you “didn’t disrupt anything” is not really correct at all, is it?

Look at how the modern superstar of computer science, Swift, is inspired by Ruby (the first gift that you personally granted to our world). Admit that the high-functioning and uncountable web-oriented businesses we see were made possible by the far-sighted architectures you uncovered like REST and Ajax. And by building just enough crankiness around TDD into your persona, the culture has taken hold.

Rather than framing this as anti-ambition, I think you’ve shown that in your humility you accomplished more than is possible with hubris.
