21 Influential Leaders You MUST Follow On Twitter
This is an eclectic mix of influential personalities and companies. They are inspirational and/or funny, but all are trendsetting social media icons on Twitter that you can’t afford to ignore.
They offer wisdom and advice for life, leadership, and career.
A few are well-known around the globe; while others are lesser known.
Some you have heard of before, and you may have not heard of others.
I want to share the Twitter influencers that have helped me along my journey with you.
So let’s do this!
In no particular order…
1. Phil Cooke @PhilCooke
I like Phil for his no-nonsense style.
How can you not love someone whose life’s goal is to help churches and nonprofits NOT SUCK at media?
He is also the only active and legitimate film producer in Hollywood who is also a genuine Christ follower (i.e. not a flaky, wacko, weirdo pseudo-Christian).
2. Tim Ferriss @TFerriss
Known for his “4 Hour Workweek” fame and over 1 Million followers on Twitter alone, Tim is always learning and sharing new stuff in health, travel, wealth, productivity, investing, and entrepreneurship.
As the title of his latest show indicates, he uses his mind and body as an experiment in order to share what he learns from those investigations.

3. Seth Godin @ThisIsSethsBlog
Seth is an influential author, blogger and speaker about all things marketing. I first listened to his audiobook All Marketers Are Liars over 10 years ago and was hooked on his sage marketing advice.
He consistently writes a blog post every day (and has for the last 16 years) without fail!
His encouragement to create AND ship things regularly has dramatically increased my creative output.
4. Ryan Deiss @Ryan Deiss
I first became acquainted with Ryan Deiss at the Annual Traffic and Conversion Summit 2014.
He has been in the digital marketing space for a long time now and his Digital Marketer organization runs online marketing for multiple companies with over $100 Million in combined annual revenues.
They have sent well over 1 Billion emails and know how to generate the most revenue from customers who gladly purchase what they are selling.
He and his company practice sophisticated, successful digital marketing…nuff said!
5. John Legere @JohnLegere
I wonder what AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint think about good ole’ Johnny Boy at T-Mobile. He is very active on Twitter, prodding and poking fun at his cell phone competitors in the US.
Brash, outspoken, yet genuine, John has attracted quite a following on social media AND a ton of new customers stolen from his competition.
Love the black and pink Batman theme John!
6. Richard Branson @RichardBranson
Richard has been mega-successful in many ways with his Virgin branded companies. Plus, he treats his employees with sensible respect. Sadly, this is all too uncommon these days.
They operate in spaces as divergent as cell phones and space travel.
7. Tim Hawkins @TimHawkinsComic
One of the few remaining clean comedians left in the world, Tim is laugh-out-loud, slap-your-knee funny!
Thumbody’s watching you…hehehe…
8. Jimmy Fallon @JimmyFallon
One of my favorite sketches from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is the Wheel of Impressions with Kevin Spacey.
I’ve embedded the video of that sketch below Jimmy’s Twitter profile image…it is a MUST watch!
9. Mark Cuban @MCuban
As one of the sharks on ABC’s highly successful TV show Shark Tank, Mark is an outspoken, tell-it-like-it-is investor.
He is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and even used to play basketball himself…notice the “Cuban” name above the #1 jersey.
10. Rand Fishkin @RandFish
Rand founded one of the most influential SEO websites around…Moz.
Moz has a full suite of analytics tools to help increase your online visibility, and their MozBar Chrome extension is the bees-knees for understanding the domain authority (influence) of your own or other websites!
13. David Burkus @DavidBurkus
I met David as a result of my affiliation with ORU where I received my Bachelor Degree in Music Composition.
He shares his research about what causes creativity and innovation.
Hint…it’s not what you think…
14. John Mauldin @JohnFMauldin
John is, and will probably always be, my favorite Macro-Economist; he takes a balanced view of the history of the global economic markets.
If you want to know what in the world is going on in the world of Economics and why markets and governments act the way they do, subscribe to his weekly email newsletter. You will NOT be underwhelmed.
15. James Altucher @JAltucher
He is a hedge fund manager, entrepreneur, and has founded or co-founded over 20 companies.
His ideas and interests are manifold.
16. Kim Garst @KimGarst
Kim is a rock star in social media marketing circles.
Her latest world domination attempt is ongoing on Periscope. She is the self-proclaimed First Lady of Periscope.
19. Noah Kagan
Noah started SumoMe which gives website owners the ability to engage with readers, gather email addresses, and start monetizing their website by giving customers what they already want.
20. Guy Kawasaki @GuyKawasaki
Guy was an early employee of Apple; he is well known in Silicon Valley for his forward thinking ideas on things tech and marketing.
Notice the lady looking at Richard Branson in the image at the top of Guy’s Twitter profile…
21. Miles Anthony Smith @Miles_Anthony
You didn’t think I would create a list of influential people on Twitter without name dropping myself, did you?
So here is my shameless plug!
