Stealing on Medium

Just watched last night a documentary about Aaron Swartz' life and loved it. He was trying to make knowledge (via web)something shareable and democratic. I see no problem in doing such a thing. Actually, I admired that young man for his commitment to the cause. It is a shame what a biased judicial system has done to him and his family, corroborating to end a life of someone so brilliant.

However, what has been discussed here is not anything close to his philosophy. I really like to share good articles, offering more people access to a piece of information that I found useful. This is totally different from using it without attributing credit to the authors. If the writing of another person may enrich your own, it is imperative to quote the source. It is ethical. It is the right thing to do. I found despicable that people see no problem in producing "derivatives" as an original post and I agree that we should all demand more vigilance (from Medium and from each of us) to prevent this behavior to become a rule.
