I would highlight all of this if I could. It’s that simple. I don’t understand this desire by black America to be liked or socially accepted. You don’t have to be liked, you just have to have your game/hustle respected. We can talk shit about Russia from a distance. But no one can deny the effect of those 3000 nuclear warheads they have on how much shit you can say before you fear the clap-back.
Since you talk a lot of music, I’m reminded of Eminem. No matter his skin colour or who owed rap music first or where it originated, no one could argue he was one of the best to ever hold a mic. He snatched that rap respect and genius right out of our black hands. Like you say, while we’ve watched the seeming nepotism of the Jews, the Asians, the Italians who always keep some or all of the wealth in the family, we are spenders and consumers, never producing anything or at the very least keeping it for the next generation. After Dr Dre sold out Beats I was sure my people would never get it but I am again encouraged with what Jay-z is doing — even though a bit late to the game- with Tidal and I hope he never sells.
I always wonder to myself. What would things have been like, if when the first whites sailed onto the shores of Africa they met a highly industrialized civilization of sailors, traders and farmers who were also armed to the teeth with our own brands of advanced weaponry. Instead of with slaves perhaps they would have returned to America with black businessmen, alchemists/scientists as part of a transatlantic business partnership and we would not be in the shit we are in right now.
More blacks need to hear this.
