Annoying yet effective

FEBRUARY 01, 2016

I throw a Tide pod into the washing machine this morning when I did my laundry. I used to carry a bottle of fabric softener ,a bottle of liquid bleach and a larger bottle of liquid detergent downstairs. I heard people saying the pods might not dissolve well and stain the clothes, so I don’t trust the laundry pods.

These days “the Tide challenge” ads always pop up when watching videos on YouTube. I find it quite annoying after watching several different version (I started to watch the ads instead of skipping ads after studying integrated marketing). Then I skipped all the tide challenge ads and I was still thinking “nah I don’t trust pods”.

Two weeks ago I ran out of laundry detergent. Standing in front of the shelf of detergents in a Target in Brooklyn, I decided to give Tide Pods a shot as I couldn’t bear the weight to carry the huge bottle back to Manhattan and every time I do my laundry.

Suddenly I realized, though I hate the ads, they still succeeded selling me stuff that I didn’t trust at all. The repetitive annoying ads win.

I still don’t fully trust the pods. I still pray every time I do my laundry that the pods don’t destroy my dress.

Luckily, so far so good.
