Valentines heart decoration

I love making large statement decorations that can be reused year after year.

These large hearts are made with sturdy vines from the garden, bent into shape and tied with twine. I have decorated the hearts with dried rose petals and other bits of felt. This decorating is a fun way to introduce art bits that represent valentines for you. Adding and adjusting the design year after year, the possibilities are endless.

Slight nod to a nautical style with hemp style rope tied using reef knots. I love the look of the reef knot with the line fanned out at the ends in a weathered fashion.

  • I found a hot glue gun worked well to secure any petals or other bits.
  • The hardware store was a good source for the in-expensive sisal line.

I have used the hearts with different colour decorations, so many creative options. One of my girlfriends decorated the hearts for use at her wedding wedding with white and blue. We used lace, tule fabric, tissue Pom poms, to add texture and blend different colours into the decor. It worked out really nicely hung as a group on the fireplace mantle.

Have fun with this decoration. Adjust the size of the hearts and create groupings. Lovely re usable decoration that can be edited over time.
