Obtaining auto insurance for your very first time. SUPPORT!!!?

I can get my licens, a few weeks, and I have a car and so the only issue left will be auto insurance. I asked my mommy, who is making me buy it, how much it would be to be wear her insurance. She mentioned $108 a month!!! I know that I will not be able to afford that. I have enough money right now for about 14 months and that is it. I already have employment, but most of the money I create goes toward tuition for private school(long story). Could I have my own isurance plan? Do I have to be under a guardian? what are my alternatives? Please help. I’ve until Friday that is newt to find out it.
