To tweet or not to tweet- That is the question.
Today I created my first twitter account.
It was a new to me to find out that people used twitter for educational purposes and as a PLN.
I created the account and followed Pip and then was guided around twitter on a virtual tour. We then followed other inspirational educators on twitter to get a better idea of ways to post on twitter and get some ideas of resources to share with our own PLN.
We then typed in a hashtag which connected us to everybody in the university’s wider community and began tweeting ourselves.
I saw a lot of socialising and connecting on Twitter. Twitter is a social media platform but is now being used as a way work colleagues, students and people with similar interests and professionals share information and resources amongst each other.

I believe it could be a great resource to use for teachers if it is used in the correct way and if people turn other twitters idea’s into a product of their own.
Having a lot of social media accounts myself, I find it extremely handy that twitter is used as a new learning curve for people in any kind of profession. Being able to follow people you may not know personally but aspire to, is where twitter’s magic comes in. Twitter gives you the choice to follow celebrities, politicians, executive people in your work environment and of course friends and family. This gives you the opportunity to connect with people that you may not know in real life or may not live anywhere near.
I think Twitter is a great social media platform and now that I know how to use it I will personally be using it to keep in contact with my university staff and peers. It is extremely valuable for the mere fact that you can express your opinion and knowledge on anything and be able to converse and with people all over the world.
Twitter will benefit my in my next 5 years of study as I live 10 hours away in Lismore. It will allow me to stay connected to my fellow Australian Catholic University peers and allow us to support each other with new materials and ideas on our page. Once finishing my Batchelor of Education it will keep me in the loop with what other teachers around the world deliver in their classrooms and allow me to expand my resourcing materials.
I will apply my new knowledge and insights in the future by staying connected with my PLN with posting or sharing new teaching and educational ideas I find and create. Twitter will let me stay up to date with what is going on in my university environment and continue to grow relationships and knowledge that are impossible to maintain in real life.
