DEWA with the UAE Space Agency Forging Partnerships for Space Innovation and Sustainability

DEWA made history by being the first utility in the world to use nanosatellites to improve the maintenance and planning of power and water networks. DEWA SAT-1 and DEWA SAT-2 successfully launched, demonstrating the utility’s dedication to pioneering improvements in space technology.

The combined efforts aim to establish the UAE as a global space and technology powerhouse. The emphasis on data utilization via AI and IoT, which is backed by DEWA’s smart services and the Space Data Centre, demonstrates a commitment to pushing advancement in smart infrastructure.

The trip began in January 2021, with the inauguration of DEWA’s Space-D initiative, championed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. DEWA’s achievements in developing capacities and educating Emirati experts, notably in the deployment of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as IoT, AI, and blockchain, have been lauded.
