What is the most important school day of the year?

Isn’t every day important?

Let’s face it…there’s 185 days in a school year, and each day seems more important than the next. As a teacher, there’s a lot to be thankful for. Sometimes, with all that we have going on, it’s hard to find the most important or rewarding part of the day. But that moment when a student thanks you for helping him, draws you a picture, or gives you a hug — makes you realize how important you make each and every day for your students. Of course the first day of school is special — meeting your class, getting to know each other, and learning about all of the fun things that you will do. Or the last day — wishing your students well as they travel onto the next grade after they enjoy the few warm months of summer. But how about the 183 days inbetween? We do so much for our students to make sure that we are giving them the best education that we can. We think of ways to teach them while making sure they’re having fun. We put on acts to help them rememer important inforamtion. We sing songs, we come together, and we work hard to make sure that students are learning all that they need to learn. We do this all in the best interest of our students. Because that’s who we are. We are teachers. We go out of our way to make sure that each and every thing we do will have meaning for our students and make every day of the school year the most important day.
