I am penning this because many writers used implied consent when constructing a sex scene. That is all fine and dandy if that’s what you like or what works for you, the characters etc. But affirmative consent can be incredibly sexy. It doesn’t have to be drab.

I’m going to make a quick list of suggestions if you’d like to experiment with writing affirmative or explicit consent.

This is a screen shot from Cute Demon Crashers, a visual novel that puts consent about all else.

Do You Like That?

To spice up the dialogue, throw in asking if the character is enjoying something. It works well for foreplay. The line can apply to intercourse as well. Checking in now and then is sexy and shows that the other character is not a glorified sex toy to the speaker.

Do You Want Me?

Any variation of this is a 15 on a scale of 1–10 for hotness. “Tell me you want me” works for dominant or assertive/aggressive characters. “How much do you want me” is another variation that can vibe well for reciprocated attraction in heavy foreplay and dirty talk.
