The Rio Olympics has been a colossal waste of money (40 Billion dollars for a stadium made of paper-mache and held together by staples) and more depressing than I imagined possible. The displacement of people to construct this paper-mache monstrosity is tragic, and knowing that it will stand to rot forever makes me physically ill.
