By the Numbers: MO Republicans in the U.S. House Just Voted to Slash Medicare & Medicaid

Missouri’s Republican officeholders in the U.S. House voted today for a harmful budget that takes healthcare away from Missouri’s seniors and working families.

Here’s what that vote means for Missourians, by the numbers:

The Republican budget in the U.S. House

  • Slashes nearly $500 billion from Medicare
  • Cuts $1 Trillion from Medicaid

That puts healthcare at risk for:

  • Over 1,100,000 older Missourians who are covered by Medicare
  • More than 980,000 Missourians who receive healthcare through Medicaid

Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber added,

“This vote from Missouri’s Republican officeholders in Washington will rip healthcare away and drain the pockets of Missouri’s seniors and working families. That’s more than just shamelessly out-of-touch politics — it’s going to put the lives of Missourians throughout the entire state at risk.”

Missouri’s Republicans in Congress including Representatives Ann Wagner (MO2), Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO3), Vicky Hartzler (MO4), Sam Graves (MO6), Billy Long (MO7), and Jason Smith (MO8) all voted in favor of the GOP’s U.S. House budget today.
