The hooded man at Abu Ghraib and the Saigon man’s execution by the Viet Cong persuaded the public of the wars’ cruelty and of American complicity in war crimes. A police dog tearing a black protestor’s pants and a man killed at Kent State revealed, in different ways, the vicious overreaction of law enforcement.

Man killed at Kent State died as a result of actions involving the Kent State ROTC conducting a drill. They were not supposed to be conducting a drill with live ammo – that is the question that was never answered in the aftermath.
You are correct that that these two photos did have a major impact on changing Americans perception of the Vietnam Conflict.
