Sun and shadow

Your suicide, my story

[2 of 20]

Our society loves sunshine and sunny dispositions. But someone who sees shadow, sadness, the darkness in life—they are labelled “depressed” and “mentally ill.”

I don’t accept that.

Shadow is real. It’s natural and necessary. It’s what light creates when it touches life.

People like you and I know shadow. We feel it, we see it, we live in it, and our hearts swell with the sadness of it all. But the saddest thing is that we don’t tell each other.

Instead, you kill yourself. And you leave me behind, still in the shadow.
