I live in the Midwest and I see a lot of typical misconceptions you have, automatic weapons have been illegal in the USA since the 1930’s (remember the Tommy gun?). Most of the issues you speak about are in extremely generic terms and no disagrees with those things on the generic level, it’s when you get specific about solutions and how to enact them where we all tend to disagree.
