Man, if there was an clear answer for that, you’d be a best selling motivational speaker.

I do think, at least for me, part of it requires you to verbally or write out what you are grateful for now. The other part seems to be at least evaluate what precisely do you want. Determine whether the wishes are for self-gratification or perhaps serves a higher calling that may not necessarily directly benefit you.

I read another article that commented essentially we are sort of forced to figure out desires and goals in our junior & senior years of high school when it’s really something that may take years to finally figure out and could change altogether.

Stephen R Covey called this finding your voice, which he observed tends to be discovered more than researched out.
