It seems though that the Hololens display already uses a light-field like display, albeit in a more primitive form than what the Nvidia article describes. (see http://forums.windowscentral.com/microsoft-hololens/336812-depth-analysis-whats-inside-hololens.html). In my experience Holo does get tiring after a bit but nowhere near as bad as screen-based solutions such as Oculus.
I’m very anxious to see what Magic Leap’s light field solution will look like. The next few years will be interesting times for sure!
