Republicans in the Resistance

It’s important to remember that the Resistance is not Democratic or Republican. It’s American. The documented lies of the current regime is a threat to our democracy, and the evasiveness surrounding executive branch ties to Russia are a big part of that threat. As former president George W. Bush says, “we all need answers” on Russia.

Many, probably most Republicans are patriotic truth loving Americans. Republican congressman Darrell Issa goes a step further than the former president, and calls for a special prosecutor to investigate the well documented Russian connections.

Saturday night live made a great movie trailer about a Republican Hero who stands up to the Trump Administration. But the reality is, it will take many Republicans joining the Resistance to stop Trump.

Outside of Congress, another Conservative thought leader is Evan McMullin. He’s been honest and consistent in his assessment of the Trump Administration.

There are dozens of Republicans standing up to Trump already.

Senate Intelligence Investigation

Lindsey Graham(R-SC), John McCain(R-AZ), Richard Burr (R-NC) and Susan Collins (R-ME) all support the Senate Intelligence Committees three pronged probe into Trumps Russia ties.

First is Russia’s misinformation campaign to sway the election in favor of Trump. Something acknowledged recently by even Paul Ryan.

Second is Russia’s electronic ‘break in’ of the DNC, something that alone makes Watergate crooks look like amateurs.

And Third, the big one, “any contacts between members of either campaign and Russian officials” This has turned out to be quite a list already. Jason Chaffetz(R-UT) and Lindsey Graham(R-SC) were quick to call for Jeff Sessions recusal when it was revealed Sessions lied to Congress.

Senate Judiciary Committee

Chuck Grassley(R-IA) is Requesting Flynn Transcripts w Diane Feinstein, and continues to investigate Russian meddling.

House Intelligence Committee

Devin Nunes, R-Ca is probing Trump/Russia in the House Intelligence Committee.

House Judiciary Committee

The Trump/Russia contacts are so widespread and murky that Several Republican Congressmen are calling for separate investigations into that alone. This effort is being led by Walter Jones(NC).

Jones and Mark Sanford (R-SC) broke with their party avoided suppressing Trumps tax returns on a vote last week.

McCain has been consistently vocal in calling out some of Trump’s lies, including asking him to explain his Wiretap claim, and back it up with evidence.

I’ll add to this list as Republican’s break rank, including Senators who vote against Trump nominees.

Complicit

So far these Republicans have tried to thwart investigations into the Russia connection. They will have to take sides soon.
