Julius Shulman In Comparison To Jai Mohan

Angels’ Flight Railway, by Julius Shulman

Julius Shulman, as you can see from her photograph above;Angels Flight Railway”, does best to capture the delightful architecture and express the components in living, in her photographs. Similarly, to my photograph; Central Train Station (photograph below), i have chosen to capture central train station in such a way to capture the architecture.

Platform 18, by Jai Mohan

Specifically with the use of the technique; — A domestic environment that depicts a form of living specific to its architecture. As you can observe, both photographs are of train stations. Furthermore, they both depict a form of living specific to its architecture with the demonstration and use of elements in a train station, such as people, trains, carriages, railways etc.

Union Station, Los Angeles, by Julius Shulman

Furthermore Julius Shulman captures this photograph straight on to capture the front of the Union station, to illustrate the architecture. This portrays how a domestic environment that depicts a form of living specific to its architecture as the photograph is taken to hint the elegance and the architectural elements that are captured in this photograph. These being the stone piece/waterfall in the centre of the foot path, the tile patterns on the ground, clean cut shrubs etc. The photograph tries to point out the form of living being elegant and luxurious.

Central Train Station, by Jai Mohan

Correspondingly; “Central Train Station” by Jai Mohan similarly focuses on the same notion towards Julius Shulman’s photography. This photograph of the train station clearly depicts its from of living specific to its architecture. This is because of the crowdedness, which indicates its in a highly, busy or populated area, such as the city. The geographic location plays a vital part, as the subjects in the photograph illustrates or hints the busy lifestyle. This compliments the specific architecture as the design is very unique and gives a classical feel to the station. This hints the rich history of the train station and how it’s a key piece of construction that is vital and plays a big role in the domestic environment. Although Julius Shulman did not have any people in his photograph, and the form of living was something else as opposed to a busy lifestyle, both photographs portray the domestic environment and display the form of living specific to its architecture. Both photographs capture and aim to head towards the notion of a domestic environment that depicts a form of living specific to its architecture.
