That was insightful, save for one factor: Hillary Clinton. She’s also part of the 1% problem, and especially since the Democratic conventions she’s been moving even more overtly right toward the policies of the economic elites. As a result, the race has become neck-and-neck with a clear problem of millennials (and not a few olders) not motivated to vote for her.

They’re not Trump supporters. But they don’t see Clinton as an acceptable alternative. If Trump wins, they won’t like it, but they don’t care enough to vote for a candidate who reviled them (usually through surrogates and supporters) and then has openly courted Republicans rather than them.
